When a tooth is damaged, has a large filling, a crack, or needs protection after root canal treatment, it is important to reliably restore its shape, strength, and function. To do this, we use e.max CAD CEREC® ceramic inlays and crowns, which we manufacture in our own laboratory.
What is an inlay?
An inlay is a ceramic restoration that replaces a large filling. It is custom-made for your tooth to accurately reproduce its anatomy and contact with adjacent teeth.
An inlay is suitable when the tooth can still be saved without a full crown, but a filling is no longer sufficient for strength.
What is a crown?
– A crown is a ceramic “cap” that completely covers the tooth on all sides. It restores its shape and protects it from further destruction.
– A crown is needed when the tooth is significantly weakened: after endodontic treatment (root canal), with large chips, cracks, or when there is little tooth tissue left.
Advantages of e.max CAD CEREC® crowns/inlays:
– Strength and durability: ceramics are suitable for daily use.
– Natural appearance: the restoration does not “stand out” from the adjacent teeth.
– Precise fit: digital scanning ensures a tight fit.
– In-house laboratory: faster production, consistent quality, control of aesthetics and shape, less waiting time between stages.
Treatment plan for e.max CAD CEREC® crowns/inlays:
– Examination and diagnosis
– Preparation of the tooth/teeth (if necessary)
– Digital scanning
– Installation of a temporary restoration — tooth protection and comfort while waiting for the permanent restoration
– Design of the future restoration (CAD) and fabrication in our laboratory (CEREC®)
– Fixation and bite control
